FOSTERING POSITIVE WORKPLACE COMMUNICATION

One of the unfortunate facts of life is that office dynamics are a constant challenge. What may start as small workplace annoyances—gossip, favoritism, misunderstandings, poor communication skills or a lack of clarity—can quickly become obstacles to performance and productivity. Whether a dispute happens over something silly or something serious, a great many problems arise when situations escalate into conflict. Resolution is not about being right!  It is about finding common ground that everyone can live with. When personal and office challenges prevail, productivity can fail.

Rationale for This Session:     
Effective, positive communication between co-workers, higher-ups, and clients is imperative in today’s workplace. Fostering positive communications by encouraging teamwork and resolving miscommunications before they escalate into conflict is essential. This session focuses on behavioural skills and provides solutions for common communication challenges in the workplace.

Upon completion of this seminar, you will be better able to:

  • Recognize your hot buttons and learn to minimize counterproductive defensiveness;
  • Discover a foolproof response to gossip and negativity;
  • Employ techniques for constructive confrontation and feedback;
  • Learn how to manage emotions in volatile situations;
  • Foster clarity and integrity in verbal, nonverbal or print communication;
  • Know when to apologize and how to do it effectively;
  • Gain knowledge of how to talk to anyone, anytime, anywhere without fear of repercussions;
  • Anticipate problems before they escalate by watching and learning the patterns of others.
